ACADEMICS | For the sixth year running, Loyola Marymount University is No. 3 among the best regional universities in the West, according to the 2018 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s rankings of American colleges and universities. Together with the recent top-10 percent ranking by the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. News ranking showcases LMU’s growing reputation.

Additionally, LMU is No. 2 among the best colleges for veterans in the West – moving up one notch – and is named among schools in the West with the largest populations of international undergrads. LMU is tied at No. 3 in the region among schools whose faculty members have an unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching – the teacher-scholar model. The list of LMU’s rankings is here.
These rankings come on the heels of new lists from USA Today and College Factual, a college choice resource that evaluates more than 1,300 four-year U.S. colleges and universities. LMU ranked in the top 10 percent for overall quality and is third for drama and theatre arts; seventh for film, video and photographic arts; sixth-most popular for entrepreneurial studies; and 10th most focused for marketing.
In the U.S. News & World Report listing, LMU’s Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering for the second year in a row made the top-20 list of the best undergraduate engineering programs at schools where no doctorate is offered. Additionally, LMU ranks among the best 100 undergraduate business programs and continues to rank in the top 20 for its entrepreneurship and marketing specialties.
In March, LMU secured top spots in U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of graduate programs, with the College of Business Administration placing 12th for its graduate entrepreneurship specialty; 15th for marketing; 16th for its graduate accounting program; and 22nd for its Executive MBA program. LMU’s School of Education ranked 62nd nationwide, and Loyola Law School held onto its high rank in the category of best law schools, coming in at No. 65 nationwide.
