Shanahan Sets the Pace; Basketball Underway

ATHLETICS | Senior cross-country runner Danielle Shanahan took first place at the Capital Cross Challenge in Sacramento on Sept. 30, finishing the women’s 6K race with a time of 20:32.2 and leading the Lion women to a third-place overall finish.

Shanahan, an All-American, has been the women’s overall winner in two of her three outings on the course in her final season. She also led the LMU women’s team to a second-place finish on Sept. 2, at the Mark Covert Invitational in Fullerton, California, topping the chart with a time of 17:56.3, nearly 15 seconds faster than the second-place runner, in the women’s 5,000-meter run.

The Lions return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 14, when the teams race in the Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara, California.

Basketball Underway

In other sports news, basketball practices are underway with less than a month until tip-off. Both men’s and women’s teams are running full steam ahead toward the start of the season, with excitement from both Coach Mike Dunlap and Coach Charity Elliott.
