Fall Athletes Gain Honors

ATHLETICS | Several Lions on fall teams are receiving individual acclaim from their respective conferences or sports. Following the four women’s soccer players to receive West Coast Conference All-Conference honors last week, the men’s program followed with three recipients of their own. Men’s water polo also received recognition as two Lions received Western Water Polo Association All-Conference awards. Women’s tennis has two nationally ranked freshman on its roster: Veronica Miroshnichenko and Eva Marie Voracek have been tabbed in the latest ITA National Rankings announced on Wednesday. The duo is ranked No. 10 in the nation in doubles, while Miroshnichenko checks in at No. 29 in singles. Voracek has also earned a singles ranking of No. 107. On the cross-country side, redshirt senior Danielle Shanahan represented LMU cross-country at the 2017 Division I NCAA Cross Country Championships at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, Nov. 18. This marked Shanahan’s third NCAA Championship qualification and the eighth time in 12 seasons the Lions were represented at the national event.
