Grills Are Getting Fired Up for Alumni Weekend and BBQ

ALUMNI RELATIONS | Alumni Weekend and BBQ, a signature event on the LMU calendar, gives Lions a chance to reminisce, reconnect and remember the things that make the university mean so much to so many.

Not all of the 24,697 Lions who have graduated since 2000 are going to make it to the 65th annual Alumni BBQ on Sept. 22-23, 2018, but visitors can expect to find more than a few friends in the crowd.

Faculty and staff members are invited to attend as many events over Alumni Weekend as they’d like, with a particular emphasis on the Alumni BBQ on Sunday, Sept. 23. Complimentary registration to the Alumni BBQ for faculty and staff members, sponsored by the Office of the President, include admission for one adult guest, and up to three youth/children (ages 2-20). Additional adult guests can enter for $35, if registered between Aug. 18-Sept. 16, or $40, if registered between Sept. 17-Sept. 23. Additional youth/children will be admitted for $10 each.

The Alumni-centered activities over the entire weekend include reunions of many of the class years, and some notable anniversaries: Magis will mark its 15th anniversary, Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Sculpture Garden; MEChA celebrates its 50th anniversary Saturday from 4-7 p.m. in the Hannon Library Von der Ahe Family Suite; Marians celebrate their 15th anniversary Saturday from 2–4 p.m. in Shea Terrace, outside the west end of University Hall; and Espérer marks its fifth anniversary, Sunday at 11a.m. in Sunken Garden.

A complete list of Alumni Weekend events can be found here, and Faculty/Staff may register here.

Alumni Weekend and BBQ would not be complete without the Mass on Sunday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel. In addition there are some familiar and new attractions, including Yoga and Mimosas on the Bluff in the Bird Nest at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and the 33rd annual 3-on-3 Alumni Basketball Tournament at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Burns Back Court.
