ATHLETICS | The men’s water polo team, picked to finish third in the WWPA by the annual coaches poll, opened their season this past weekend at San Diego’s Triton Invitational and came away with two wins against three ranked teams.
LMU’s women’s volleyball team is 5-1 after winning two of three at the Utah State Tournament over the weekend. LMU swept Utah State and then Texas Rio Grande Valley, with the only shortcoming occurring in the opener against No. 24 Cal Poly. The tough tournament schedule continues as the Lions head to the Kansas Invitational.
The cross-country season is underway as the men’s and women’s team participated in Cal State Fullerton’s Mark Covert Classic on Saturday.
Restore the Roar with discounted men’s basketball tickets. Loyola Marymount men’s basketball team’s “Restore the Roar” package rewards young alumni and fans under the age of 30 with season tickets at a reduced rate, with their first year in program being the cheapest and increasing for the five years of eligibility. The program is a gesture of thanks to those in their 20s, offering an affordable way to continue being a pivotal piece to the men’s basketball crowd. The energy and passion that these fans bring to games is invaluable to the team’s success.
The women’s basketball coaching staff has been finalized with three additions. Jhasmin Player joins the staff as an assistant coach, Emily Ben-Jumbo becomes the team’s director of operations, and Daisy Feder comes on as a graduate assistant. While on the men’s basketball side, former professional player Anthony Winchester has been added as a graduate assistant coach.
After a weekend in Chicago that included a weather cancelation, men’s soccer returns to Sullivan Field this weekend for a Sunday afternoon home contest against LIU Brooklyn. The game will be Camper Reunion game as well as LMU Sorority and Fraternity Life Day. The women’s soccer team will make their trip to the Windy City this week with road games against Northwestern and DePaul.
