Interfaith Connections – Friday Prayer with LMU’s Muslim Community

MISSION AND MINISTRY | The Office of Muslim Student Life sponsors a weekly midday prayer on Fridays from 1:15 to 2 p.m. in Malone 202. All are welcome to participate in the midday Juma’ah Prayer or, if you prefer, to simply attend and listen to the sermon and enjoy being present for the prayer. Muslim Student Life regularly invites local religious leaders to join their weekly midday prayer gatherings. Invited guest speakers offer the sermon, lead the congregational prayer, and then host a community conversation over a pizza lunch. Upcoming guest speakers include:

  • Oct. 5 – Salam Al-Marayati, is president and co-founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council in Los Angeles. Together with MPAC, Al-Marayati is nationally recognized for his commitment to improving the public understanding of Islam and policies impacting American Muslims. His son Zayd is an LMU graduate.
  • Oct. 19 – Sana Khan, M.D. attended UCLA School of Medicine from 1986-93 and graduated as Dean’s Scholar with his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in anatomy and neurobiology (clinical neurophysiology).  In his free time, Khan works with the Islamic Society of Orange County, which is the largest Muslim community center in Southern California, serving more than 10,000 Muslims.
