Google Introduces Students to Computer Science Fields

SEAVER | For the past two years, Google has led a group first-year students at Loyola Marymount University in a three-week workshop of rigorous academic instruction, practice, lab work, and project development. The workshop, called Computer Science Summer Institute Extension Program, or CSSIx, introduces students to the many dimensions of computer science.

It’s not all work; on weekends the group takes excursions around the Los Angeles area, including a visit to Google’s Venice campus, CTRL Collective, L.A. County Museum of Art, the California Science Center, Santa Monica and Dodger Stadium.

The program is funded by the Alliance of Women Philanthropists and the university, and is no extra cost to the students. A video about the program can be seen here.
