Women’s Basketball Impressing Conference Foes

ATHLETICS | The women’s basketball team is off to a blazing start in West Coast Conference play. Coach Charity Elliott’s team is 11-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Lions host San Diego on Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. when they return from their road trip. Elliott, whose contract has been extended through 2021, is in her sixth season with the Lions, and under her leadership the team began this season 6-1, marking LMU’s best start to a season since 2003-04 (8-0).

With WCC play on the remainder of the basketball schedule, LMU Athletics announces a special partnership with Santa Monica Brewery. At all remaining men’s basketball home games all students, faculty, and staff ages 21 and over with a valid LMU One-Card will be able to claim two free beers from pregame through halftime. Students and fans alike will be able to take their beers to the seats as a part of this new arrangement.

Registration for the sixth annual LMU Baseball Casino Night is now open! Casino Night will be held Jan. 27 at The Westin Los Angeles Airport, and unlike in previous years, the annual Alumni Game will be held the same day, with a morning contest slated for that Saturday.

Casino Night is open to anyone interested in playing or watching, and participants do not need to be LMU alumni. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the poker tournament beginning at 8 p.m. A silent auction and raffle will also be conducted throughout the night, concluding at 9:30 p.m. The event features a hosted beer and wine bar, food, the poker tournament, and other entertainment games. In addition, the Lions baseball team will celebrate the 2017 West Coast Conference Championship with a ring ceremony. The 2018 Lions will also be introduced, and fans will have the opportunity to purchase their 2018 LMU baseball season tickets.
