Busy Week on the Diamonds

ATHLETICS | Spring sports are in full swing this week, beginning with the baseball team going crosstown to play UCLA today at 6 p.m. in Westwood. A weekend home series follow against Valparaiso at Page Stadium. The series opens with 6 p.m. games on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday’s start time is scheduled for 1 p.m., with a postgame autograph session.

Softball begins their busiest stretch of the season with the LMU Tournament returning to Smith Field. The team plays a double-header today against Boston University at noon and 2:30, then tournament action begins Thursday morning with the first of three games beginning at 11 a.m. In total, 30 games will be played through March 18. Men’s tennis has risen to No. 37 in the country after their fourth-consecutive win. The Lions have the reigning players of the week in singles and doubles categories. Errol Smith has been named the West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week and the Lions duo of Charles Boyce and Lukas Moenter are the Doubles Team of the Week. Fans can catch the action this week with the team hosting UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the LMU Tennis Center.

The women’s tennis team also has a lengthy win streak. The Lions have won five straight and are back at home Wednesday against Seton Hall at 11 a.m. The freshman duo of Veronica Miroshnichenko and Eva Marie Voracek were named the Women’s Doubles Team of the Week to close out February.
