Home Victories Earn Pivotal PCH Cup Points Over Pepperdine

ATHLETICS | For the first time in program history, Loyola Marymount tennis defeated Pepperdine in a head-to-head match. The No. 43 Lions moved to 11-2 overall and picked up their first West Coast Conference win of the season as they came from behind to top their Southern California rival. The LMU Tennis Center was rocking as LMU won all four singles points to take the match, 4-1. Conference play continues on the road before the Lions return to the bluff for three matches on Apr. 7, 8, and 10.

Baseball added to their PCH Cup lead, taking two out of three from the Waves at Page Stadium this weekend. The Lions lost Friday’s game, but won Saturday and then took Sunday’s rubber match to clinch the series. The baseball team will be in Irvine on Tuesday night before resuming WCC action in Stockton for a Thursday through Saturday series.

LMU competed in one of their biggest regattas of the season, the San Diego Crew Classic. The trip down to San Diego is always a highlight of the season, along with the WCC Championships on May 12 in Lake Natoma, California. This weekend women’s rowing will compete for the Berg Cup in Newport Beach on Saturday.

With the shortened holiday weekend, action on campus is limited: women’s tennis hosts a conference match against St. Mary’s on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the LMU Tennis Center; the golf team is at Brentwood Country Club on Wednesday against Brown; beach volleyball has three matchups at the Ocean Park Courts in Santa Monica on Thursday; and track and field competes in Westwood for the Jim Bush Legends Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
