Men’s Basketball Heading to Australia

ATHLETICS | The Loyola Marymount men’s basketball team is headed abroad in August. The Lions will participate in an Australian trip highlighted by cultural experiences, team-bonding opportunities, and basketball games. All 13 players, and the men’s basketball staff, will make the trip.

“New players get to join the players who have already been here,” said Coach Mike Dunlap. “We also get the opportunity to play Lion basketball on foreign soil. Lastly, we get to introduce our guys to a different culture and there is a learning element to this trip that we embrace.”

The team will travel Aug. 9-20, with photos and exclusive content from Australia available throughout the trip on social media and LMULions.com.

Women’s basketball and women’s rowing have hired new assistant coaches. Jasmin Holliday has been promoted to an assistant coaching role after serving as the team’s director of operations for the 2017-18 season. Holliday has been with the program for three years overall, getting her start as a graduate assistant in 2015-16 and then moving into an administrative assistant position within LMU Athletics, specifically women’s basketball, in 2016-17.

Jake Power, a volunteer assistant coach with Stanford rowing for the past two seasons, has been hired as an assistant coach with LMU rowing, coach Hanna Osborne announced this week. While at Stanford, Power helped guide Stanford to a fourth-place finish at the 2018 NCAA Championship while assisting with the selection of the 4+ that placed eighth at the 2018 NCAA Championship.
