UNIVERSITY BULLETINS | Ken Cavanaugh was elected the next student body president, and Emily Sinsky the next vice president, on Thursday, March 28, 2019, by Loyola Marymount University students. Also, the graduate students elected Chelsea Kwan as president and Ryanne Martucci as vice president.

Cavanaugh, a women’s and gender studies major with a sociology minor, and Sinsky, an international relations major with an urban studies minor, ran on a platform of prioritizing the needs of students and to “break down the barriers between the administrative bodies of our campus, our student government, and our student body.” They pledged to renew the campus commitment to social justice and to build a culture of care and compassion.

The winning campaign pair beat out the tickets of Sam Cassidy and Camila De Pierola, and Jonathan Ting and Theresa Siri.

ASLMU – the Associated Students of LMU – is the voice of students in the governance of the university and “actively promotes a vibrant student life,” according to their mission statement.

Kwan, who is completing her master’s degree in counseling in the School of Education, said she intends to raise the level of graduate student involvement on campus. She promised she will build on her experience as social director of GSLMU and as a senator for the School of Education to promote greater participation by graduate students. Her vice president-elect Martucci, who is also earning her master’s degree in counseling and community mental health, pledged to create a support net for graduate students by engaging more students and making them aware of opportunities and resources.
