DPS Launches New @readyLMU Social Media Identity

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY | The Department of Public Safety has recently launched its new “Ready LMU” social media identity, to jumpstart the conversation and facilitate preparedness among the LMU community against natural disasters and other emergencies.

Each month, @readyLMU will post facts and tips on a variety of subjects, including campus safety, natural disasters, and general emergency readiness. The digital presence will be complimented by on-campus events, giveaways, and other initiatives highlighting the monthly preparedness theme. The goal is to ensure that students, staff, and faculty feel confident in their knowledge of “what to do” in any number of emergency situations.

All students and staff members are encouraged to follow @readyLMU on both Twitter and Instagram.

Monthly preparedness themes set over the course of each academic year are aligned with those determined by the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA:

  • September: Fire Safety
  • October: Earthquake Preparedness
  • November/December: Public Health & Flu Prevention
  • January: Resolve 2B Ready/Severe Weather
  • February: Active Shooter/Active Threat Training
  • March: Tsunami Awareness
  • April: Power Outage Preparation
