Summer Brings Many Groups, Events to Campus

CONFERENCE AND EVENT SERVICES | The Loyola Marymount University campus is a dynamic hub of creative and scholarly activity during the academic year. And the summer months bring a different version of bustle.

A handful of academic, international, religious, and civic groups have booked time on the Westchester campus, which frequently ranks among the country’s most beautiful.

In August, a group of Jesuits will take their first vows at Sacred Heart Chapel. Before that, the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities Communication Studies group will meet on campus, and The Association of Catholic Student Councils – TASC – will convene in June. Also, the Catholic School Leadership Academy will meet in August.

In addition, the LMU Youth Theology Institute for high school students will take place in June, and the 13th International Conference on Daoist Studies will be on campus also in June.
Three groups with Pacific Rim connections will hold symposia at LMU, including Hong Kong Community College, Naniwa Dental College and the 12th Korea-America Student Conference.

Underserved student populations will have a place when the LMU campus hosts the 2019 UP Through Education Summit for first-generation first-year students, and Upward Bound’s Math and Science meeting for high school students, both in June.

Academic visitors to campus will include a group of journalists in May who are taking part in a joint LMU-Kent State course. There will be six sessions of iD Tech Camp that specializes in providing computer technology education to children ages 7 through 18, and the 2019 College Success Retreat will happen in July.

If that weren’t busy enough, the International Society for the Study of Time will meet at LMU in June, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation is coming to campus for their meeting in July.

For questions about any of these events, contact Conference Services and continue to check LMU This Week for more updates and event information.
