AD Pintens Thanks Fans, Administration for Support

ATHLETICS | LMU Athletic Director Craig Pintens has reflected on his first year at the helm at LMU. Pintens released both an open letter looking back at the 2018-19 school year, as well as the accompanying annual report.

Making another step forward as a senior administrator, Ashley Armstrong has been named LMU’s first deputy athletic director. In the newly created role, Armstrong will serve as chief operating officer of the Athletics Department and senior women’s administrator. She will represent LMU Athletics on the WCC Executive Counsel and as serve as a member of the senior staff. Her responsibilities include oversight of multiple sport programs including women’s basketball, indoor and beach volleyball, softball, cross country, and track and field, as well as oversight of student-athlete success areas such as academics, life skills, mental health, training and strength and conditioning. Armstrong will assist in the oversight of marketing, communications, ticketing, and multimedia rights for Athletics.

The 2019 men’s water polo schedule has been announced by Head Coach John Loughran, which marks his 23rd season running the LMU program. The team will make their home debut as part of a full day of games at the WWPA/GCC Challenge on Sept. 14, 2019. LMU opens the tournament against Pepperdine at 10 a.m. and close out the four-game schedule against UC Irvine at 4:20 p.m., with a pair of neutral games in between.

With the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year, the West Coast Conference has announced the 18th annual WCC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, which recognizes student-athletes that have balanced athletic success with academic excellence. At LMU, 166 student-athletes were recognized for the past school year.

As we prepare for more excitement in 2019-20, we’re counting down the Top 10 Moments of this past year. Number four focused on a pair of LMU teams taking down the number one team in the country with major tournament implications.

Marking the return of our athletic teams to campus, the women’s soccer team begins practicing this week for the 2019 season. The schedule is out with the Lions making their home debut on Aug. 29. Season tickets are still available!
