Hurricane Dorian Relief Efforts

UNIVERSITY BULLETINS | Donations and fundraising are the most effective assistance the LMU community can provide at this time in regard to assistance for those affected by Hurricane Dorian. It is best that you make monetary contributions, no matter how small, so that agencies on the ground can use these funds to meet the needs of the victims in the most-effective way possible.

The following agencies are on the ground and are already providing aid to hurricane victims:

  • The University of the Bahamas has more than 600 displaced students as well as many of their faculty, staff and family members of students. They are looking for financial support for the immediate needs of their community and the rebuilding of their facilities.
  • World Central Kitchen: Chef and humanitarian José Andrés is currently on the ground in the Bahamas with his charity and seeking donations to help serve thousands of meals to survivors.
  • Team Rubicon already has teams of veterans providing assistance in the Bahamas providing hands on disaster relief.
  • Catholic Relief Services is working with Caritas Granada to provide relief services in the Bahamas.
  • The ASPCA has been in disaster response mode since last week, and has been working with Wings of Rescue to transport nearly 200 animals without homes to safe shelters.

If you would like to work on a fundraising event or for more information, please contact Pam Rector in the Center for Service and Action at pam.rector@lmu.edu.
