LMU BELLARMINE COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS | Jeffrey Shandler, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of Jewish Studies at Rutgers University and a scholar of Yiddish culture, will give this year’s Fischmann Family Distinguished Lecture, presented by the Jewish Studies Program at Loyola Marymount University. The title of his lecture is “Tchotchkes: American Yiddish Material Culture After World War II.

Shandler is the author of “Adventures in Yiddishland,” which examines the transformation of Yiddish in the six decades since the Holocaust, as well as numerous books on contemporary Jewish culture and Holocaust remembrance.

The Fischmann Family Distinguished Lecture is an annual event hosted by the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts and the Jewish Studies Program at LMU, and is made possible by the generosity of the Fischmann family. Additional co-sponsors for this year’s event are the English and Modern Language and Literatures departments.
