Learn at Lunch- Advising and the Core

UNIVERSITY BULLETINS | The Office of the Core Director and the Academic Resource Center invite you to join us for lunch and to learn more about advising in the Core. We will offer tips for how to deal with some of the common questions that come up in advising for the Core and how to navigate many of the challenges in making sure students choose the right courses to fulfill Core requirements. Among the topics we will cover are flag requirements, transfer courses counting in the Core, requirements for students in Seaver, and “double dipping” by taking Core courses within a major or minor.

Students (and faculty) often feel a great deal of anxiety over Core advising. And with good reason. Poor counseling can make it more difficult for students to graduate on time and may force them to take summer courses or register for an overload. However, with a little advance training, advisors can help students avoid these difficulties and benefit from the well-rounded education that the Core provides.

Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP by emailing Coredirector@lmu.edu. We hope to see you on October 8.
