Applications Open for 2020 Faculty/Staff Immersion Trip

MISSION AND MINISTRY | Interested in international travel and becoming a better-educated global citizen? Want to explore how our Ignatian mission and values are lived out in diverse contexts and circumstances?

Apply for the Office of Mission and Ministry’s annual Faculty/Staff Immersion trip.

This year’s immersion offers LMU faculty and staff members the opportunity to visit our close neighbors in San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. Participants will learn about the work of diverse faith- and justice-based organizations at the U.S.-Mexico border, and that of fellow Jesuit educational institutions; the trip will close with a day of reflection at a retreat center.

The 2020 immersion will enable encounters with neighbors and colleagues who are physically close to us but experience separation of many kinds, and to reflect upon our own work in light of these experiences.

The annual Faculty/Staff Immersion trip, sponsored by Mission and Ministry, offers LMU employees the opportunity to encounter realities outside their day-to-day experience and grow in well-educated solidarity and global citizenship. Each summer participants travel outside the United States with particular attention to the needs of the poor and marginalized, and to gain a heightened awareness of the international dimension of Jesuit higher education and the opportunities it affords for global solidarity.
