ASLMU Christmas Tree Lighting Tradition Brings LMU, Neighbors Together

UNIVERSITY NEWS | Regents Terrace is being spruced up for the annual ASLMU Christmas Tree Lighting. Students, faculty, staff and the Westchester community are invited to gather to kick off the holiday season with this year’s theme: Polar Express. Come dressed in your best Christmas pajamas and grab some delicious cocoa. This holiday event is organized by ASLMU as their gift to the community. #ASLMU

The fun begins Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at 5 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m. The Christmas tree lighting will happen at 7 p.m.

As many as 3,000 students, faculty and staff members are expected to be joined by approximately 500 neighbors from the Westchester and Playa communities, giving a festive, family atmosphere to the occasion. Food trucks including Rice Balls of Fire, Heritage L.A., The Tropic Truck, Bollywood Bites, The Grilled Cheese, Cocina Fresca, and Paradise Cookies and Ice Cream will be coming.

ASLMU will be again be donating proceeds to a toy/clothing drive, to the Center for Service in Action food pantry, and selling light-up bulb necklaces for charity as well as a few other organizations tabling for their philanthropy. Be sure to stop by the Community Relations table to receive an LMU frame for your photo with Santa (limited supply).

The ASLMU Programming Team has planned this year’s celebration that will include:

  • A festive Christmas ambiance
  • ASLMU Christmas mug giveaway
  • Cocoa and cookies provided by LMU Hospitality by Sodexo
  • Popular L.A. food trucks
  • Kids crafts and cookie decorating stations
  • Pictures with Santa
  • Trackless Christmas train ride for all ages
  • Variety of themed Christmas photo opportunities.
