Revised Class Schedule Announced

It’s never too soon to start planning for next semester.

Academic Affairs has announced the revised class-time block schedule for AY 2020-21, which minimizes overlapping time blocks for students, and maximizes access to general purpose classrooms for faculty. The revision process was highly collaborative, with substantial input from ASLMU student leadership, Faculty Senate, the Registrar’s Office, the Deans Council, the assistant/associate deans, and the Classroom Scheduling Committee. Our colleagues prioritized removing overlaps that previously existed in time blocks to give students more opportunities to enroll in courses scheduled in popular time blocks and provide faculty with additional two-day-a-week and 200-minute options.

To accomplish these goals for AY 2020-21, MWF classes will now end at 10:20 p.m. instead of 10:10 p.m.; TR courses will begin at 7:50 a.m. instead of 8 a.m., and end at 4 p.m. instead of 4:10 p.m.; and evening courses, whether they are 3 or 4 units, will run 4:10 p.m. – 7:10 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. – 10:20 p.m., without overlaps that previously existed. The full schedule can be found here.

Beginning in fall 2020, through our shared governance structures, students and faculty will be invited to provide feedback on these changes to the class-time block schedule so we can best serve LMU’s undergraduate and graduate students. Thank you to everyone who participated in this important process.

Immediate questions may be forwarded to Associate Provost José Badenes and University Registrar Jennifer Silverman.
