LMU Launches COVID Support Team

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY | LMU recently announced the launch of a dedicated COVID Support Team, with the purpose of providing personalized resources to any member of the LMU community who may have or has been exposed to COVID-19 and has campus access.

Support Team members will assist individuals by providing personalized resources, guidance to safely isolate or quarantine, and support through the testing and recovery process. The Support Team will also conduct a contact investigation to identify other LMU community members who access campus and may have been exposed. Through their collective actions, the COVID Support Team strives to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

All conversations with the Support Team members are confidential. The team functions independent of any organization or department on campus, and will protect the privacy of all individuals they speak with.

Team members hail from various departments across campus, including Public Safety, Human Resources, Student Affairs, Loyola Law School, and Athletics. Team members, who bring prior experience with providing support, connecting resources, and conducting investigations, underwent a rigorous COVID-19 contact tracing course through the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health prior to joining the Support Team.

The COVID Support Team can be reached at 310.568.6868 and COVIDSupportTeam@lmu.edu, or by calling the main university line and saying “COVID Support Team” at the prompt. On-call hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., and weekends 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. If calling after hours, individuals can leave a message and a team member will get back to them the following morning.
