Get Ready for 2021 Open Enrollment

This year, Benefits Open Enrollment begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020 and ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 for eligible faculty and staff. This is your once-a-year opportunity to choose the benefits that are right for you (and your family) for the coming year.

We’re making a few changes and enhancements to your employee benefits for 2021.

Critical Illness

  • Metlife is offering upgraded coverages for the critical illness plan, which will include coverage for Coma, Severe Burns, Paralysis, ALS, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, as well as 7 childhood diseases
  • The plan now also provides a 25% benefit for 10 covered infectious diseases including COVID-19*
  • The critical illness plan will also now pay a $50 wellness benefit per year per member of the family for one of the covered routine exams including routine checkups, blood tests, COVID-19 testing, hearing and eye exams, pap smears, mammograms, colonoscopy, PSA, and cholesterol tests

HSA and FSA

  • LMU will now contribute to your Health Savings Account (HSA) on a per paycheck basis
  • HSA maximum contributions have increased to $3,600 for employee-only coverage and $7,200 for family coverage
  • You can now carry over up to $550 of your 2020 FSA balance for use in 2021, and the FSA maximum is increasing to $2,750
You now have until March 15, 2021 to incur and use funds in your 2020 Dependent Care FSA

Pet Insurance

  • We have a new pet insurance plan that replaced our previous plan, effective October 1, 2020. The new plan covers only dogs and cats and offers policies priced individually according to pet type, age, breed and location (ZIP code) of the pet

*Infectious diseases benefits require a hospital stay for 5 consecutive days.
