5 Months to Go-Live: Chronicling LMU’s Workday Progress

PROPEL LMU | LMU will commence a new era on June 27, 2021, bringing Workday to the bluff to consolidate all Human Resources and financial-related processes into a single streamlined platform. Workday go-live will culminate 15 months of development, and end 23 years with the same technology – LMU’s current HR and financial software was implemented in 1998.

Bringing this monumental change to LMU has been a resounding group effort, with nearly 400 staff and faculty members, from every division across the university, contributing to the design and implementation of Workday.

This spring, LMU staff, faculty, and students will begin to see more information about the upcoming change – with the opportunities to join Q&A forums, participate in training, and otherwise equip themselves with the tools and knowledge to easily navigate the transition to Workday.

As a reminder, the following systems will all be phased out in June, and be replaced with the singular Workday platform:

  • MyTime
  • Concur
  • Oracle E-Business Suite
  • ADP iPay
  • lmu.edu
  • Longview
  • ThinkSmart
  • and more. See the full list of processes changing to Workday here.

Some of the biggest changes that Workday will bring to LMU:

  • Timesheets: exempt (salaried) employees will no longer need to enter weekly hours.
  • Grants: faculty will be able to view the status of their grant approval process in real time and manage post-award funds in one place.
  • HR forms: no more paper. All forms and processes (from changing benefits allocations and direct deposit info, to updating dependents and emergency contact) will be organized in one central dashboard.

As the LMU community prepares for Workday, all Lions are encouraged to visit the Propel project website for more information and check back often for further resources and training materials as the university moves closer to go-live.

Additionally, you can learn more about the colleagues working behind the scenes to make the transition happen, in the fall Spotlight series.
