Bookstore Launches New Textbook Adoption System

LMU, in partnership with Barnes and Noble Education, has launched the Adoption and Insights Portal (AIP), a streamlined course material adoption platform that will provide faculty with a new resource to research, adopt and share insights about textbooks and course materials.

AIP is fully integrated with the university’s single sign-on technology and was designed to make it easier for faculty and department administrators to adopt textbooks and to ensure that students have access to the correct materials at the most-affordable prices.

In addition to a variety of cutting-edge features, including one-click readoptions, AIP will allow faculty to search for and compare course materials in a variety of price ranges, including Open Educational Resources (OERs).

“I’m optimistic that this new platform will make a once cumbersome process painless, and I’m excited about the potential it has to support faculty efforts to advance course material affordability across campuses,” said Andy O’Reilly, senior director for auxiliary and business services.

Dana Heathcott, general manager of LMU’s Campus Bookstore agrees and believes that one of the most effective ways that AIP can help with student course material affordability is through its ability to facilitate early textbook adoptions.

“It’s a win-win when course material adoptions are submitted early,” she said. “Early textbook orders provide students with more time to shop around for the lowest price and take advantage of our price match program. Early adoptions also ensure that inventories of books, especially used books, remain in the LMU bookstore rather than travel to other institutions.”

Faculty and department administrators who place textbook orders can access AIP through MyLMU, under the Academic tab, from the link “Textbook Adoptions.” AIP replaces Faculty Enlight.
