Sacred Heart Chapel Reopens for Sunday Mass on June 6

CAMPUS MINISTRY | For the first time in more than 14 months Sacred Heart Chapel will open its doors to LMU faculty, staff, and students for Sunday Mass. On June 6, 2021, at 10 a.m., the LMU community will be able to celebrate Mass in this sacred space and receive holy communion once again.

The reopening of Sacred Heart Chapel will take place on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, which celebrates the presence of the body and blood of Christ in the Eucharist. “The Eucharist is spiritual food for the ongoing journey of faith. Yet, during the many months of the pandemic, the church has been forced to endure a long, spiritual fast from the sacraments,” said Marc Reeves, S.J., director of Campus Ministry. “The reopening of Sacred Heart Chapel signals an end to this fast and an opportunity to return to the sacramental life of the church wherein we celebrate Christ’s great desire to be one with us and our profound desire to be one with him.”

Sacred Heart Chapel will be open to the first 80 people who register by midnight Thursday, June 4. Capacity levels should increase as distancing restrictions are eased for businesses, activities and places of worship. To register for the Mass please click here.
