UNIVERSITY NEWS | Picture this: Thousands of graduating Lions and their families making SoFi Stadium roar.

That’s the expected scene on July 31, 2021, when the collective graduating classes of 2020 and 2021, including LMU Loyola Law School, take the field at the newest stadium in the Los Angeles region.

SoFi Stadium, site of the 2022 Super Bowl and the 2028 Summer Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, features the SoFi Oculus, the first-of-its-kind, 120-yard immersive digital display suspended over the field. All of the ceremonies on the stage and festivities on the field will be magnified, especially the much-anticipated keynote by award-winning actor Viola Davis.

Our graduates will also be celebrated with pyrotechnics, all-star chef inspired concessions, gift bags, fun photo ops, pop-ups, and more, making this year’s commencement the largest celebration in LMU’s history. After the commencement ceremony, graduates and their guests are invited to attend college/school specific receptions at locations throughout the stadium, which will be conveniently located near guests’ specified seating areas. These free-flowing celebrations will serve as great meeting spots to reconnect and mingle with family, friends, graduates, faculty, and deans, and will offer complimentary light refreshments, an exclusive commencement gift bag for graduates, and graduates will have access to a thank you station, where they may write personal notes of gratitude to faculty, staff, and other members of the community.

The day before Commencement, July 30, 2021, Sacred Heart Chapel on the Westchester campus will celebrate Commencement Mass, which will be livestreamed at 5:30 p.m. PDT.
