Happy Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola

On July 31, the same day the Classes of 2020 and 2021 are celebrating their 109th Commencement at SoFi stadium, friends of the Jesuits around the world will join in the celebration for the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. This year is an even a more unique celebration because it’s the Ignatian Year, which runs from May 2021 to the end of July 2022.

St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Spanish theologian, was one of the most influential figures in the Catholic Church and the leader of the Jesuits. He wrote the Spiritual Exercises, a set of meditations and prayers that was published in 1548 and he was declared a patron saint of all spiritual retreats. He encourages each one of us to “find God in all things,” and act “for the greater glory of God.”
