LMU BELLARMINE COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS | Loyola Marymount University’s Bioethics Institute hosted a high-profile visitor when Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, the president of the Academy for Life at the Vatican, toured the institute on Sept. 3, 2019.
Roberto Dell’Oro, director of the Bioethics Institute in the LMU Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts who works on the topics of robotics and artificial intelligence and is a member of the academy, met with his colleague. Archbishop Paglia delivered a lunch address to students and faculty members in the Bioethics Garden on the topic “Toward a Global and Environmental Responsibility: Pope Francis and the Renewed Agenda for Bioethics.”
Dell’Oro, the archbishop and his companions, also met with LMU President Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D., BCLA Dean Robbin Crabtree, and faculty members from the LMU Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering.
Archbishop Pagila stopped in Los Angeles on his way to Seattle to meet with Microsoft CEO Brad Smith to discuss artificial intelligence issues.
