Students Experience Campus Ministry’s First Year Retreat

Buster FYR 300x300 - Students Experience Campus Ministry’s First Year Retreat

MISSION AND MINISTRY | Campus Ministry welcomed over 175 first-year and transfer students on its annual First Year Retreat (FYR) program. At the end of the third week of the fall semester (Sept. 13-15), students took a brief leave from the bluff and journeyed to the Pali Mountain Retreat Center in the beautiful San Bernardino mountains. Joining the retreatants were 50 returning students who served as retreat leaders, our Campus Ministry’s dedicated staff, and last but not least, everyone enjoyed the new addition of LMU’s campus dog, Buster–who enjoyed his retreat experience as he begins his first year.

Members of the Campus Ministry team, Christine Koehl and Jake Blicharz, served as co-directors for the FYR retreat program. They were joined by Father Jim Erps, S.J., the Director of Campus Ministry, John Flaherty, Sister Maria Lai, C.S.J., Father Eddie Siebert, S.J., Josh Mayfield, and John Sebastian, vice president for Mission and Ministry.

Our first year Lions received a very warm welcome to the LMU community, were nourished spiritually, and enjoyed making new friendships with retreatants and student leaders. Go Lions!
