WILLIAM H. HANNON LIBRARY | Kristine Brancolini, dean of the William H. Hannon Library, has been elected chair of the board of directors for SCELC, the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium.

SCELC provides licensing, resource sharing, and other services to 112 private academic member libraries and more than 200 affiliate libraries. As chair, Brancolini will lead the board in helping to maintain the well-being of SCELC and keep the organization focused on its mission. “It is the board’s job to make sure that the organization does not unconsciously stray from its mission or values,” Brancolini said.

The LMU librarians have been active in SCELC for more than 20 years, serving on SCELC committees and leading major projects. This is the second time Brancolini has served as chair of the board. She notes, “Membership on the board, and on board committees, allows us to participate in and influence new directions for the consortium, such as its recent work on collaborative collection development and the expansion of open access licensing agreements.”

Brancolini will serve as chair for the 2020-21 year, then past-chair for 2021-22. She recently chaired the SCELC Strategic Planning Task Force from 2018-20, which adopted a new plan on May 29, 2020. “I look forward to implementing the ambitious new plan in the coming year,” Brancolini said. “A central focus will be long-range planning for the financial health of the consortium.”
