Ignatian Guided Retreat Invites Students to Be Still and Encounter God

MISSION AND MINISTRY | More than 20 upperclassmen participated virtually over the holiday break in an Ignatian Guided Retreat offered by Campus Ministry, reflecting on the Scriptural passage, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).

Despite this unprecedented time and setting, the essence of this year’s annual Silent Retreat on Dec. 18-22, 2020, reimagined for a virtual platform as an Ignatian Guided Retreat, offered retreatants what generations of Lions have enjoyed about this retreat for nearly 50 consecutive years: It provided undergraduate students with a unique opportunity to engage in quiet reflection, communal prayer, and discernment.

Inspired by St. Ignatius of Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises, undergraduate students journeyed together, alongside spiritual directors, Jesuits, Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, and laypeople, to pray and explore themes of gratitude, mercy, and hope in their lives.
