2022 Open Enrollment Is on Its Way!

This year, Benefits Open Enrollment begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021 and ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 for eligible faculty and staff. This is your once-a-year opportunity to choose the benefits that are right for you (and your family) for the coming year.

What’s Changing for 2022
For the most part, your benefit plans are remaining the same next year. However, you’ll see a few changes and enhancements for 2022.

HSA Changes

  • HSA maximum contributions have increased to $3,650 for employee-only coverage and $7,300 for family coverage.
  • HSA catch up contribution limit age 55 or older remains $1,000.

FSA Changes

  • The Health Care and Dependent Care FSA carryover for the 2021 plan year will continue into the 2022 plan year. This means, for the second year in a row, any Health Care or Dependent Care FSA balance remaining at the end of 2021 will carry over, which you can use to pay for eligible expenses in 2022.

The carryover amount does not count against your Health Care FSA election for the following plan year. You may still elect the maximum of $2,750 per plan year. Keep all of this in mind as you decide how much money you plan to contribute to your HCFSA and DCFSA in 2022.

  • In 2022, the Dependent Care FSA reimbursement maximum age limit will revert back to age 13.
However, you can still get reimbursed for eligible dependent care expenses incurred in 2021 for children who attained age 13 in 2020.

You may still elect the maximum of $5,000 per plan year. You can contribute a maximum of $2,500 annually to a Dependent Care FSA if you are married but file separate tax returns.

Carrier Change for Group Auto and Home Insurance
As a reminder, Farmers Insurance has replaced MetLife as the administrator for Group Auto and Home Insurance. This is a change in name only; if you have Group Auto and Home coverage, the details of your policy remains the same.

Read the 2022 Open Enrollment Newsletter for details about all the changes.
