Invitation to the 3rd Annual Ramadan Interfaith Iftar Dinner

UNIVERSITY BULLETINS | Ramadan begins on Monday, May 6 during the week of spring finals. LMU’s Professor of Theological Studies Dr. Amir Hussain discusses Ramadan and its significance in his book “Oil and Water.”

What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar “when all able adults are required to fast during daylight hours. The fast means a complete break from eating, drinking (not even water) or smoking, from dawn to sunset. During Ramadan, Muslims wake up before the dawn and eat a small meal. They then declare their intention to fast for the entire day. During Ramadan, Muslims are encouraged to spend more time reading the Qur’an and praying extra prayers at night. Please be supportive of our fasting Muslim students. Assalamu Alaykum! Peace be upon you!

Please join us for the 3rd Annual Ramadan Interfaith Iftar Dinner on Tuesday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in The Hill. Dinner will be served following Maghrib Prayers. RSVP here.
