Facilities Management is performing planned campus maintenance during the holiday closure. Please be advised of the following shut downs, and plan accordingly.
Power Outage – Friday, Dec. 20
A planned power outage is scheduled for Friday December 20 from 2 – 7 p.m. in the following buildings:
- Malone Student Center
- Von Der Ahe Building
- Life Sciences Building
All occupants are requested to clear the buildings by 2 p.m. in preparation for the tests, which are mandated by the City of Los Angeles. Please remember to unplug your electronic devices (including computers, printers, phone and laptop chargers, and microwaves) prior to departing for winter break.
Lot G Closure – Dec. 21 through Jan. 10
Lot G will be closed from Dec. 21 through Jan. 10 to install new utilities. (Map to be included)
Ignatian Circle Partial Road Closure – Dec. 23 through Jan. 5
Part of Ignatian Circle (near Rosecrans Lane) will be closed from Dec. 23 through Jan. 5. Traffic control will be in place to minimize traffic disruptions.
Fire Alarm Testing: Monday, Dec. 23
Annual fire alarm testing will be performed on Monday, Dec. 23 from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. The following buildings will be affected:
- William H. Hannon Library
- Hilton Center for Business
- Malone Student Center
- Life Sciences Building
- Central Plant
- University Hall
This testing is mandated by the Los Angeles Fire Department, and will include an inspection of the fire systems, sprinklers, and alarms. Testing will produce intermittent noise from the alarm system.
Additional testing will be performed on the following dates, but there will be NO noise impact to these buildings.
- 12.27: University Hall fire panel testing
- 12.30: William H. Hannon Library panel testing
- 12.31: Hilton/Central Plant panel testing
- 01.02: Life Sciences Building panel testing

Heating Hot Water Shut Down – Jan. 2
There will be a hot water shut down from Jan. 2 at 7 a.m. to Jan 4 at 8 a.m. The following buildings will be without hot water for this duration:

- Pereira Hall
- Rosecrans Hall
- Seaver
- Whelan Hall
Cold water will remain in service during the shut down.
