Jennifer Rivera Silverman, Ph.D., University Registrar

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce that Jennifer Rivera Silverman, Ph.D., will join Loyola Marymount University as registrar effective July 1, 2019. She comes to LMU from the University of La Verne, where she has been interim registrar since March 2019 and associate registrar since 2014.

Dr. Silverman brings to this pivotal position broad experience in enrollment management. At ULV, she oversaw the day-to-day supervision, training and evaluation of the academic records analysts, articulation assistant, degree completion coordinator, ultimately being responsible for the academic records of 8,700 undergraduate students. She also served as consultant for academic senate subcommittees and provided faculty with context, structure, and information related to institutional policies and best practices that impact advising, general education, transfer, articulation and degree completion. Before her appointment as interim registrar and associate registrar, she was an assistant registrar at ULV, evaluating foreign and transfer transcripts and records. Prior to her time at ULV, she worked for seven years at UC Irvine in increasingly responsible capacities in Admission and Relations with Schools.

As the LMU registrar, Dr. Silverman will lead the management of all academic records and policies, developing and managing academic policies and ensuring that academic records are administered in a secure and accessible manner. She will formulate, review, publish, and interpret the academic policies of the university in collaboration with the provost, the vice provost for enrollment management, and the deans. Dr. Silverman will ensure a high quality of service provided to students, faculty, staff, and administration. In collaboration with partners across the university, she will also lead the planning and execution of academic ceremonies, including the university’s Commencement Exercises. She will report directly to me.

Dr. Silverman earned her Ph.D. in education from UC Riverside, and her M.A. and B.A. in English literature from UC Irvine.

Please welcome Jennifer to LMU and to this key role in our institution.

Sincerely,

Maureen P. Weatherall, Ed.D.
Vice Provost for Enrollment Management
