LMU Turns Off the Lights for Earth Hour

UNIVERSITY NEWS | This Saturday, March 27, 2021, LMU will join millions of people across the globe in turning off the lights for Earth Hour. Earth Hour is the world’s largest public commitment to protect the planet, with more than 400 of the world’s most iconic landmarks shutting off their lights from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. to signify the importance of electricity conservation.

In 2020, the world saw the lights turn off on the Sydney Opera House, the Eiffel Tower, Brandenburg Gate, the Colosseum, and more.

This year, LMU will help raise awareness by shutting off the lights to Sacred Heart Chapel, the Lincoln Boulevard fountain, and the lights on the bluff, as a gesture of solidarity with others working to diminish global energy use.

Earth Hour isn’t just for campus – all Lions are encouraged to participate. Wherever you are, you can join by shutting off all nonessential lights and unplugging nonessential electronics from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. local time. Together, we can give the Earth a break and help remind ourselves and others of the importance of energy conservation.
